The German defeated Flavio Cobolli 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-1 in a gripping four-hour, 16-minute final to claim the first major title of his career, having previously fallen short in three Grand Slam finals.

Moments after lifting the trophy, he sat down for a post-match interview where the newly crowned champion seized the chance to playfully respond to one of his doubters.

The world no. 3 didn’t waste any time in taking a subtle jibe at his doubter after win.
