Margaret Court won 21 Grand Slam singles titles before taking time off in 1971–1972 for the birth of her son Daniel. She returned in 1973 to win the Australian, French, and US Opens, making her one of only two women to win three Grand Slam singles titles after becoming a mother (the other being Kim Clijsters). She had a daughter, Marika, in 1974 and returned to the tour, though she did not win further Grand Slam singles titles. Her 24 career singles majors remain the all-time record. |
