Coco Gauff came close to a surprise defeat before fighting back to keep her Italian Open campaign alive. Just weeks before heading to Roland Garros as the defending champion, the American had to dig deep during a match that featured several momentum swings and tense moments throughout.

The American almost loses the match before shifting momentum in her favor.

Gauff picked up another hard-fought win on clay, coming back from match point down to defeat fellow American teenager Iva Jovic in the fourth round of the Italian Open.

In 1976, the women's doubles final at the Italian Open was suspended due to darkness at the end of the 4th set. The players did not resume the 5th set until September 15th in Houston, making it technically a 108-day final.
