When you’ve played in Rome as many times as Novak Djokovic has, the surroundings naturally become familiar. This year marked his 19th appearance at the Italian Open, making him one of the most experienced players ever at Foro Italico.
But this visit unfolded very differently. The Serbian suffered an opening-round loss to 20-year-old Croatian Dino Prižmić, and the result clearly affected him. After the match, the Serbian also made an unexpectedly honest admission that caught many by surprise.

Dino Prizmic earned the biggest win of his career on Friday, where he upset the 24x Grand Slam champion 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 to reach the third round.

However, the ITF and IOC reconciled after the IOC recognized the ILTF (now ITF) in 1976 as the governing body. Tennis was officially readmitted as a full medal sport at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Rafael Nadal described his 2009 singles and 2016 doubles victories as emotionally equal to Grand Slams.
