The wait for Carlos Alcaraz's return isn't over just yet. The Spaniard, who has been sidelined since sustaining a wrist injury in April, had raised hopes of a comeback after a positive recovery update last month. But despite being on the entry list, he has now pulled out of a major tournament.

Two years ago, on a Sunday afternoon in Paris, Novak Djokovic finally conquered the one mountain that had stood untouched throughout his legendary career.

After nearly three grueling hours and two nerve-shredding tiebreaks, the Serbian defeated Carlos Alcaraz 7-6(3), 7-6(2) on the clay of Roland Garros to capture the Olympic gold medal: the only major prize missing from his glittering resume.

The moment match point arrived, Djokovic dropped to his knees in tears. He embraced a heartbroken Alcaraz at the net before making his way to the stands, where his wife Jelena and children, Tara and Stefan, were waiting. As young Tara wrapped her arms around her father, the 24-time Grand Slam champion was overcome with emotion, bringing one of the most heartfelt celebrations of his extraordinary career.

For a player who had won everything the sport had to offer, Olympic gold remained his white whale. On that unforgettable afternoon in Paris, Djokovic finally completed tennis.
