Carlos Alcaraz became the first man in the Open Era to win back-to-back five-setters in the semifinals and final of the 2024 Roland Garros. He beat Sinner, 2-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, and then Zverev, 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2, to become the first man to achieve the feat since Rod Laver in 1962, six years before the Open Era began—and 41 years before Alcaraz himself was born. |
