Juan Carlos Ferrero first laid eyes on Carlos Alcaraz when the Spaniard was just 14. Intrigued by a prodigious talent near his tennis academy in southeastern Spain, the former world No. 1 watched Alcaraz compete in a tournament—an encounter that would change both their careers. That initial meeting paved the way for a partnership that formally began in 2018. Under Ferrero’s guidance, Alcaraz went on to win 24 tour-level titles, including six Grand Slams. His breakthrough came at the 2022 US Open, where he claimed his first major title and, at just 19 years old, became the youngest world No. 1 in PIF ATP Rankings history. |
