On December 11, 1983, Mats Wilander toppled Ivan Lendl 6-1 6-4 6-4 at the Australian Open to win the title at the age of 19 years and three months, becoming the youngest Australian Open winner since great Ken Rosewall in 1953 and also the second teenager with multiple Grand Slam crowns after his compatriot Bjorn Borg who stayed away from the Tour in 1983.
