September 25, 1992 :

Jimmy Connors defeated Martina Navratilova in the final episode of the “Battle of Sexes,” a sequel to the legendary 1973 showdowns between Bobby Riggs and Margaret Court, and Riggs and Billie Jean King. This time, it was called the Battle of Champions. Connors, freshly 40, and Navratilova, about to turn 36, were both tennis royalty. With only one serve and a court widened by half a doubles alley on her side, Connors somehow still pulled off the win 7-5, 6-2.
